How the Affordable Care Act Helps Individuals Get Health Insurance
Upcoming changes to the Affordable Care Act affects everyone, including individuals. The biggest change that is coming online is the Health Insurance Marketplace that offers coverage to those who have previously denied coverage, are uninsured or just want to look into different options for coverage. The Marketplace is available across all states, providing coverage to all who want it. Here's some Marketplace 101 about the benefits that are on offer:
  • Cost of coverage may be lower. The application for the Marketplace tells you if you're able to get lower costs on your monthly premiums or out-of-pocket costs that you currently pay for your healthcare with insurance.
  • Health benefits such as preventative care, visits to your doctor, a trip to the hospital, prescriptions and more are covered in the Marketplace.
  • No denial of pre-existing conditions. Going forward, no plan can deny you coverage or charge more for any pre-existing condition you have.
If you currently do not have health insurance, you might have to pay a fee starting in 2014. You can avoid this by participating in the open enrollment for the Marketplace which begins on October 1, 2013.Are you in the Renton area and interested in an insurance policy?
